Ralph Alimurung – Executive Assistant

ralph-lauren-alimurung-vaI started as a Virtual Assistant in the Real Estate Industry as a Leasing Administrator and now, currently a Property Manager Assistant. At first, I didn’t have any experience with the role, that I even had to work overtime to finish my tasks. This, of course, was never an issue for me since I really wanted to learn and be good at it. I’d rather start slow and steadily master the tasks at hand, than to be quick but have a lot of errors.

Slowly but surely, I gradually learned the processes required and within the 2 and a half years of working as a Virtual Assistant, I have met different clients and have been designated to different roles that helped me grow and hone my skills. I will forever be thankful to all the clients I have been with for the time they have spent training me and giving me a chance to be a part of their team as well as to be able to showcase my ability.

Joining the Virtual Assistant community was very unexpected for me because it wasn’t very in demand when I started. However, this opportunity led me to have a very nice work-life balance compared to my previous jobs as I felt that the pressure from work is more tolerable. It also gave me a stable job that allowed me to earn regular income despite the pandemic happening. For the reason that I was able to work from the comfort of my own home and be with my family, helped a lot in overcoming the negative feelings the pandemic has brought.

ralph-lauren-alimurung-vaWhat made me continue this as a career really is due to the flexibility it allows me. It is a great career option that offers flexibility, variety and work-life balance. The range of tasks required is diverse and depends on the needs of the client and the skill set of the agent. I also have a hold of my time. I can manage and create a timetable that would guide me while working. Because I am a virtual assistant, I could have the option to go over my emails a day before I start my shift so I could prepare my tasks throughout the week. This allows me to be organise and plan out my schedule for the next day. I also find it somehow easier as I can communicate directly with my client and understand their expectations better.
