Renalyn Mendoza – Human Resources Supervisor, Recruitment Specialist

Hi! I am Renalyn Mendoza, but most of my friends call me Rena. I have a small but loving family. I have my parents, my younger brother, and our 2 beautiful dogs. Growing up, I felt that my parents were overprotective of me. They easily get worried when I get hurt, so I got used to staying at home most of the time, playing with my little brother. Gladly, now that I am 28, I was given the liberty of deciding on what I want to do. In fact, I was able to come to Canada and stay in the beautiful province of British Columbia for months. I missed my parents, but I am also happy to experience living more independently — doing the chores and managing my finances on my own. I didn’t even know how to cook before I came to Canada, but I learned.

I graduated in 2016 from Polytechnic University of the Philippines in Sta. Mesa, Manila, where I earned my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration major in Human Resource Development Management. With God’s grace and my dedication, I finished my degree and graduated as Cum Laude. That same year, I got an employment offer from one of the most well-known construction firms in the Philippines for the Human Resources Assistant position. I was assigned to the Compensation and Benefits Administration section. I processed company-initiated and government-related transactions such as loans, retirement, and maternity benefits. By 2018, I was transferred to Talent Acquisition and Onboarding. I was tasked with the whole recruitment cycle from candidate sourcing, screening, interviewing, and onboarding. I also got exposure to HR Information System (HRIS) and Workday. I’ve been with the company for 8 years, and I surely learned a lot under the mentorship of my previous superiors.

Working in a corporate setup is fulfilling but can also be stressful sometimes. I know that shifting to a new kind of work can be challenging for me and might require a huge adjustment. Still, I do want to grab this opportunity to experience the convenience of working from home, being with my family, and providing for them financially at the same time.

In the future, I see myself taking on more responsibilities and have developed significant skills as a Virtual Assistant. I am committed to personal development and continuous learning, always striving to be a better version of myself. I am detail-oriented and organised, have good time management skills, and can work efficiently with a team. I always give my best efforts to achieve the best results in anything I do.
