Ruth Yap – General Virtual Assistant

ruth-yap-vaImagine having a pipeline of leads for your business.

Hi, I’m Ruth, and I specialise in lead-generation activities for businesses. This means I create activities that bring attention to businesses through creating social media content, writing blogs and emails, and engaging with prospects so they, the casual readers, become interested enough to know more about the business.

My love affair with lead generation had a bumpy start; you see, it was born from desperation. The world was on lockdown, and my family business did not survive the transition. I used to operate a business, which is why I understand operations and marketing. I was an animal feed distributor for a province for 5 years and after my separation from my husband, I opened a canteen near our home. This job allowed me to be the mother I wanted to be – hands-on while working. Although this job did not create professional opportunities, I could fully support my children’s academic needs, including tutoring.

My foray into the digital world came around 2020 when I had to look at other viable means of employment. I was a food magazine contributor, a writer for a digital agency, and a VA for coaches on LinkedIn. I have had the opportunity to work with different coaches doing administrative and writing functions.

ruth-yap-vaFrom experience, I know the digital space is competitive, and AI is a new friend we can integrate to make our products and services stand out.

Back in my days as a corporate slave, I was an HR Manager for a huge liquor company. My degree in Psychology was perfect for recruitment and training, which I handled. But love was tricky and I gave up my corporate dream to settle down and build a business together. Like other love stories, mine was not rosy enough, so from the province, I went to the city with my kids to etch a new life.

Aside from work, I love doing domestic chores. I like cooking, and believe it or not, I also enjoyed tutoring my kids when they were younger. My philosophy has always been nurturing kids to produce the best results. I am proud to share that my three kids got into the best Philippine Universities for free because of academic scholarships.

Now they are about to become adults, I find myself still active enough to help businesses stand out from the crowd. If I look back, I think my defining trait is not special; I simply have the grit to look for ways to make clients shine.
