Trexy Grace Ala-an – General Virtual Assistant, Graphic Design

trexy-ala-an-vaHello! I’m Trexy Grace Ala-an, but you can call me Trexy. Growing up in the vibrant city of Cebu, I was always known as a quiet kid with an insatiable passion for art and design. This early fascination with creativity laid the groundwork for a diverse and fulfilling career.

After completing my secondary education, I pursued a degree in Fine Arts with a major in Graphics and Media at CIT – University. Initially, my mother wanted me to take on a medical course, but I vowed to follow my heart. It was a dream come true for me after numerous attempts to convince my parents that I could land a good career after graduation. I thrived during my college years and often found myself on the Dean’s List almost every semester.

Immediately after graduation, I began my professional journey as a graphic designer at a signage company. Transitioning from student life to working life was not easy for me, as I was introspective, inexperienced, and somewhat fearful. After four years of work experience, I developed my skills in product and packaging design, illustration, 3D design, and marketing design, as well as file preparation for production. Working at a small manufacturing company also helped me hone important skills like problem-solving, multitasking, and attention to detail. Those years were challenging and some of the most stressful of my working life, but they contributed significantly to who I am today.

trexy-ala-an-vaAfter gaining valuable on-site experience, I was hired by a design and outsourcing company where I worked with US clients for a lifestyle brand that sells notebooks, stationery, bags, and more. Although I was initially unfamiliar with the new work environment, I adapted quickly. I became comfortable communicating with US clients and developed new design skills, such as creating designs for stickers using InDesign, which will always be beneficial in my career journey. My passion for print design grew so much that I purchased a printing package for myself, allowing me to create designs, set up, and print T-shirts and stickers as a new hobby. My previous experience at the signage company provided a helpful foundation, leading me to a career with a similar process.

Over the years, I’ve gained clarity on how I want my career to grow. I continued to expand my skill set by learning advanced courses in Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, SketchUp, and Blender. My two years of remote work experience also helped me adapt to working from home and understand how to be a valuable employee for my clients.

Overall, I’m confident that I possess the right mix of skills, experiences, and attitude to be a valuable virtual assistant, and I am always open to growth and new opportunities.
