Wenalyn Limtingco – Virtual Assistant, Customer Service/Technical Support Representative
When I graduated with a degree in Secondary Education majoring in English, I thought I knew exactly what I wanted—to be a teacher. But as I stepped into the reality of it, I quickly realised that teaching just wasn’t for me. It didn’t spark the passion I hoped for, and deep down, I knew I needed to find another path.
Financially, I didn’t have the luxury of time to figure things out slowly. That’s when I heard about the BPO industry. The pay was decent, and I knew people who had built solid careers there, so I decided to give it a shot. I applied at Teleperformance for the Telstra account, and to my surprise, I got hired.
At first, everything felt new and overwhelming, but I ended up loving it. The fast-paced environment, the people I worked with, and the little wins after every tough call—it all made me want to stay. I made great friends, and the workplace felt like a second home.
But it wasn’t all smooth sailing. My probation period was rough. No matter how hard I tried, I kept getting low scores, and I honestly thought it was over for me. I was already preparing myself for the worst when my first Team Leader decided to give me a second chance. That moment changed everything.
I knew I couldn’t waste the opportunity, so I pushed myself harder than ever. I listened more, practised more, and took every piece of feedback seriously. Before I knew it, I was excelling. I went from barely making it to becoming one of the top performers—month after month, year after year. The highlight of my journey? Being recognised as one of the top performers across the Telstra account and attending the awarding event. It was proof that all the struggles were worth it.
Then, the pandemic happened, and we transitioned to working from home. In 2021, a former colleague reached out and offered me a VA position. It was a risk, but I took it. That same year, something even bigger happened—I found out I was pregnant.
Becoming a mom changed everything. It became the best thing that ever happened to me. The fact that I was working from home meant I could be there for every little milestone—his first smile, his first laugh, his first steps. Watching him grow while still being able to work? That was a blessing I never expected, but one I’ll always be grateful for.
Looking back, my path wasn’t what I originally planned, but it led me to exactly where I was meant to be. And for that, I wouldn’t change a thing.
