Criszel Mae Canilang – Customer Service Representative, Teller

Hi! I am Criszel Mae Canilang, but you can call me Zel. I graduated from Polytechnic University of the Philippines in 2022 with a degree in Office Administration. Seeing someone successfully freelancing from home inspired me to explore remote work options. My experience with online classes during the pandemic showed me that working or studying from home is possible with just a laptop, internet connection, knowledge, and the right resources.

During college, I had two internships that shaped my skills. One was as an administrative assistant, where I handled data entry, managed supplies, and organized files. The other was as a marketing assistant, where I created and designed publication materials for social media and responded to client inquiries. I particularly enjoyed the creative aspect of designing materials tailored to each brand.

After graduation, I worked at a local bank where I served clients by processing account transactions accurately and complying with regulatory requirements. Throughout my career, I have honed my organizational and multitasking abilities, allowing me to efficiently manage tasks and responsibilities.

I have a strong desire to broaden my skills and experiences, particularly in creating materials. My background in campus journalism during high school, where I contributed to our school paper publication, sparked my interest in content writing. I’m eager to expand my knowledge and excel in this area. Additionally, I am a quick learner, committed to acquiring new skills.

I thrive both working independently and as part of a team. Sharing my knowledge with kindness and patience to cultivate a positive work environment is rewarding for me. I’m known for being innovative, proactive, reliable, and enthusiastic, qualities that make me well-suited for a virtual assistant role.

I think that putting in your best effort, being dependable, having a positive attitude, staying consistent, and being passionate are key to achieving success. As someone new to the virtual assistant role, I’m focused on bridging that experience gap by watching videos from various platforms, attending webinars, and taking courses to learn and grow.

Transitioning from the corporate world to working from home isn’t an easy decision, especially since I’m still relatively new to the industry and lack experience. However, I’ve chosen to take this risk to spend more time with my family while also surrounding myself with people who can help me grow professionally. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone.

My goal is to keep advancing in my career and learning as much as possible from both experiences and people.
