Diorella Alonzo – Customer Service Representative

diorella-mhae-alonzo-vaHi! My name is Diorella Mhae Alonzo but my colleagues call me Dior.

I’m a 22 year-old Filipina and I spent half of my life in the Middle East before returning to the Philippines to finish my studies. I finished Elementary, High School as well as 1 year vocational course of Design Studies in U.A.E. After which, my family and I decided to go back to the Philippines where I continued my studies of Interior Design. At first, I was still undecided whether being an Interior Designer really is for me, but I still tried my best to excel in my studies.

However, due to the pandemic and my parents losing their jobs, I stopped studying for a year, but that year turned into 2 years and still counting. I did not want to just sit and mope around the house all day, so I picked up my laptop and started searching for jobs in order for me to help out my family. I applied in various BPO companies and did not care what position I applied for as long as I get accepted. That’s when my previous company called me and hired me the same day they interviewed me.

Just a little background on my personality; I am a very timid person, and as much as possible I don’t like talking to other people. If I were to choose whether to go outside and have fun or stay at home and just sleep or watch tv, I’d rather choose the latter one. Since I started my studies here in the Philippines, I was able to come out of my shell and started taking on leadership tasks.

After getting accepted in one of the BPO companies that I applied for, I was able to land a job as a Customer Service Representative where I take inbound calls and also do outbound calls when needed. At first I had a culture shock because my first customers were really irate, but I was able to overcome it easily. The tasks included in my job as a Customer Service Representative is to handle billing concerns, troubleshoot as well as retain customers who would like to cancel our services. The company pays a decent salary but then the stress is really no joke specially to someone who just started working, at BPO company no less. But still, I’m willing to learn and I actually like discovering new skills that I may have hidden back when I was very timid.

As a CSR, I commute everyday from my house to our office even with the lockdown still ongoing. However, by applying as an Office Administrator or VA, I hope that I’ll be able to learn a lot in the comforts of my home. I’ll also make sure to give the best that I can for the company and also for my client.

I hope that I would be a great asset to your company. I would also like to share my motto in life: “With God nothing is impossible”.

That is why I believe that all things are possible when you have faith.
