Floderlyn Marcelo – Customer Service Representative

floderlyn-marcelo-vaHi! I’m Floderlyn. Most people mispronounce my name as Florderlyn, some are Flordelyn. To avoid confusion, you can call me Flod.

I don’t have a bachelor’s degree. At a tender age of 16, I got pregnant. I had to stop studying to fulfill my role as a mother. I studied college for only a year and pushed myself to work when I turned 18.

My first job was an ESL teacher. It was quite hard but interesting. Teaching Korean students how to speak, write and read English was a challenging role. At the end of the season, you will notice that they learned a lot from you and it made my heart happy.

The reason why I had to look for another job is because my ESL teaching stint was only seasonal. When students need to go back to their country, we need to stop working and wait for another batch of students.

I decided to apply in a BPO industry and was lucky enough to get hired. I was a Customer Service Representative for 4 years. Working as a customer service representative, you need to have a long patience with the customer and also provide them with a better resolution so the customer will be happy. I handled billing with general care and since it has to do with payment, I need to be very careful in processing their payments with their card.

After 3 years in the billing department, the management put our team in a retention department. Retaining the customers who wanted to cancel the account was a hard part of being a customer service representative. You need to think which resolution is the best for the customer and for the company as well.

floderlyn-marcelo-vaWhen the pandemic came, it affected a lot of industries. I had to stop working in the BPO industry and decided to look for a home based job. That’s where my online career started.

I worked as an Amazon Virtual assistant for 1 year and 8 months where processing orders through HD, BBB and Walmart were part of my tasks. I also do customer service and answering emails and feedback from the buyer. Order Fulfillment, Product Researching, Managing Returns, Repricing the products are my tasks as a virtual assistant to provide the services to the clients while operating outside the client’s office.

I am a disciplined person when it comes to work and knows how to follow rules. I am also a fast learner and willing to be trained. I am a flexible and hard working person that can help the client grow their business. I can see that working at home makes me manage my work life and my home life a lot better.

Being a mother at a young age inspires me to work hard for the family and their future. I hope it serves you as an inspiration as well. Thank you for reading my article.
