Jemalin May Guevarra – General Virtual Assistant
Hi, I’m Jemalin May Guevarra also known as Malin Tan. I have been happily married for 14 years and a mother to my 3 wonderful daughters. I used to be an Accounting major but since I have to support myself and be able to continue school, my time and attention have been divided by work and studies, so I have to shift courses and fortunate enough that I still manage to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration major in Management.
After I graduated from College, I was able to work in an office setup where I am able to work with Corporate people of which I got various experiences such as being a Purchasing Assistant, Inventory Control Staff and my longest experience as a Logistics Assistant. I never thought of working from home, as I didn’t know it really existed, until a friend of mine invited me to work as a part-timer to do data entry work remotely where I have to work in the evening and then report for my Corporate job in the morning. For me, it’s like testing the waters first as a Virtual Assistant and lo and behold, the job I thought that was good as a part-time turned out to be a full-time job for me where I can earn as much as double of my corporate job.
To date, I have been working from home for 7 years and I must say that this remote setup really works for me as a mom and as the primary income earner of my family. For the past 7 years, I have been proficient in various administrative tasks – from data entry work, email management, customer support, video editing, and CRM management which additionally my exceptional communication skills has helped me build a strong relationship with my clients and my colleagues. To some, working from home sounds easy, but actually being a Virtual Assistant is not for all. Being a VA means you have to have STRONG organisational skills and the high demand of the ability to multi task is very essential as you are required to work independently. Clients hire us – VAs because they need another pair of hands to assist them and effective communication and time management are crucial for the success in this role.
Among all of the skills and experience I earned from my previous projects for the last 7 years, my objective is to grow more in this career so I can be the best version of myself and be able to apply them both for my personal and professional life.
