Johnter dela Cerna – Administrative Assistant, Real Estate

johnter-dela-cerna-vaGood day to everyone, My Name Is Johnter dela Cerna, but most of my friends and relatives call me by my nickname John. When I was working in Saudi Arabia, I was given the name Jameel, which means attractive.

When I was in college, I use to work to sustain my needs and wants. During the day I work as a telemarketer from a bank convincing people to take advantage of the credit card and loans that the bank is offering, and during the night I was studying Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management at the University of Mindanao.

After graduating from college, I decided to work as a telemarketer for a well-known hotel in Davao City called Marco Polo hotel. After a year, I was promoted to administrative assistant. I was assisting privileged club members with their queries regarding the affiliated hotels and resorts where they can be used and take advantage of the discounts that we are offering.

Way back in 2010, I was aiming for a greener pasture and decided to work abroad. I went to Saudi Arabia and worked as a Customer Service Representative for a logistic company called El Naqel corp. My task was to track the shipment from the gulf connecting countries: United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Oman Kuwait, and Bahrain. I ask for a report for parcels that are being tagged as damaged, lost, or stolen so that we will have a reference on how to inform the caller regarding their shipments. During my stay in Saudi Arabia, the Saudi government imposed the Saudi Nationalization Scheme called Saudization all expatriates working in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia will be replaced with Saudi nationals. So, after my contract ended with El Naqel, went back home to the Philippines.

johnter-dela-cerna-vaIn 2013, I was back in the Philippines when the Business Process outsourcing industry was rising. Luckily, I was able to work in one of the biggest BPO companies located in Davao City. For 4 years I worked as a Technical Support representative for the largest telecommunication company in the United State of America. I was transferred to 3 different types of business: Billing and sales, U-verse, and DirecTV.

In 2017, I decided to grab the offer from my previous colleague to work for a different BPO company as an e-commerce specialist for food, apparel, and furniture. My task was to answer tickets, email, and make some outbound calls. I was promoted to a team leader for the email and ticketing support for 2 years the account was stable, however, the company decided to transfer the ticketing and chat support to onshore or make it a USA base account.

In 2019, I was transferred to a different line of business that was called DoorDash. It is a food Logistics company that caters to food deliveries. My task was to ensure that the food booked through the DoorDash application will be properly placed in the restaurant where the customer would like to order the food.

In the middle of 2020, I decided to look for an online job after the pandemic took place. I landed at a local real estate company in Davao City as a real estate agent and I also worked as a Virtual assistant for a law firm located in New York City my task was to answer phone calls to be transferred to the lawyer, set up a paid Virtual appointment with the lawyer and create a letter of engagement for the client for certain immigration matters.
