Joyce Lumales – Customer Service Representative

joyce-lumales-vaHi, I am Joyce Lumales, and I am currently spending my time being a stay at home mom. I am a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Information Technology at Sibonga Community College. Even if I didn’t graduate from a prestigious school, I believe that a person’s success is not based on their school, but on their own effort and perseverance.

After I graduated from college, I immediately looked for a job and was lucky enough to join a BPO company as customer service representative. At first, I was really nervous, but as time went by, I got better at talking on the phone with the help of our trainer, support, and team leader. This is where I really honed my customer service skills. Ensuring that all customer’s inquiries are satisfactorily answered, resolved, and properly documented. Being responsible for developing, organizing, and maintaining accurate files and delivering a high caliber of service in a friendly, confident, and informed manner.

Working in customer service for over 5 years helped me to build confidence and taught me the importance of customer loyalty. I was always happiest and most satisfied when I was interacting with customer’s, making sure I was able to meet their needs and give them the most possible customer experience.

When the covid cases our country started to decrease and the restrictions on establishments are eased up, our company, specifically my account’s client decide to permanently remove work from home set up and required us to go back on site. I decided to quit from my job. I still have a 3-month old baby, which is exclusively breastfeeding and the thought of being away in a joyce-lumales-vacouple of hours is torture already. Working from home is really convenient for me and a huge opportunity since its money saving, and better work-life balance. I am a first time mom and I wanted to make every second count in taking care of my child.

I’ve learned a lot from my role as a customer service representative. I am able to adapt to a new work system, learn new skills and have the ability to function with independence. Now, I am looking for a new challenge to broaden my horizons, learn more things, and gain a new skill set; all of which I see the potential as a virtual assistant. I believe that everything can be learned and I have the passion, dedication, hard work to make it happen and I am committed to a lifelong learning.
