Katherine Mae E. Laureano – Administrative Assistant and Marketing Specialist

I have a Bachelor’s degree in Mass Communication but I focus and practice more on sales and business marketing. I have been a Virtual Assistant/Web Researcher for almost 6 years now and my job duties are Office and Administrative, Research Assistance, Lead Generation, Data Entry, creating Powerpoint presentations, Transcription and formatting documents.

But I must admit my passion is research and lead generation. I have performed numerous tasks and received excellent feedback from clients. I can work with less supervision and under pressure.

On top of administration, I have customer relations skills and good communication skills.

For the longest time, I’ve been working as an employee for various companies since the moment I graduated with my degree in Mass Communication from a State University. Given such, I started out as a Customer Service Representative in the BPO industry. I had the chance to be promoted a couple of times and the last role that I handled was as an Admin and Business Development Manager in one of the companies here.

I was also fortunate enough to be given the chance to work outside of my comfort zone and travel abroad. This working experience really taught me a lot of lessons in life and broadened my knowledge and skills.

The struggle of working in the corporate world is very real. You need to work 5 or 6 days a week for 8 hours or have overtime per day. Considering the transportation from home to the office is indeed a nightmare given the traffic situation in our country. With these conditions I decided to look for other alternatives; the kind of work that will give me more quality time with my family and loved ones. This is the reason why I have been working as a Virtual Assistant for quite some time now.

It was always been my dream to work and live in a foreign country and working as a Freelance Virtual Assistant made that dream a literal ‘virtual reality’. Working with foreign clients gives me the feeling and ambiance of working abroad without leaving my family here. With this I can do more things that I love to do and I can spend more time with my family and friends.

I love my job as a VA because it opens me up to a lot of working experiences. In order to improve my work performance and myself, I believe that there are still many things I have to learn, and need to strive for having a better life in the future.
