Kathleen Ilagan – Teacher, Administrative Assistant

Kathleen is a licensed professional teacher for 2 years, with a burning passion to share my knowledge and experiences.

In the span of 2 years working as a senior high school teacher, I was able to perform different tasks such as module making, presentations, online lectures, event planning of school programs and organised seminars. These helped me to be more creative and innovative. While I was teaching, I learned that as teachers, we shouldn’t be afraid to explore different methods and strategies in teaching because in some ways, this will help you to understand your learners even more and cater their needs in the best way possible.

Before graduating college, I was able to participate and join different clubs and organisations such as Arts and Newspaper club as an editorial cartoonist, where I got the chance to practice my creativity and academic skills. Being involved in different fields of arts helped me to be more confident in everything I do. I always put my utmost effort in every challenge that I encountered and make sure that I will give my best.

I had a strong desire to train and expose myself early to the challenges of being an educator. While being a scholar of our municipality, I was also giving free tutorials during weekends to the kids in our barangay. I was able to balance my studies while doing some volunteer work in my community during my free time. Teaching young minds shaped me to become who I am today. And I will always be grateful to become part of their success someday.

Believing that teachers should engage themselves in a life-long learning, during the trying times, I have decided to start taking online courses like Teaching English as a Second/Foreign Language (ESL) to improve my communication skills. To hone my skills in organising events and different school programs, I also took different Technical Vocational courses like Events Management NC III. I also really want to improve my knowledge in cooking and baking so I took Bread and Pastry Production NC II to enhance my baking skills.

Experience has taught me how to build strong relationships people. I have the ability to work within a team as well as a cross-team. I believe that your company would give me the opportunity to learn more things in my chosen field and that it would hone my teaching and communication skills further. It really doesn’t matter where you want to be, as long as you allow yourself to grow.
