Nieva Escala – Administrative Assistant

Nieva-Escala-vaHi, my name is Nieva but I preferred to be called Yen.

After graduating from college, I worked as an administrative and clerical assistant in a variety of jobs throughout the town. I also had the opportunity to work for several months at one of the country’s well-known BPO companies during my earlier years, which allowed me to gain experience and improve my skills.

After a few years, I decided to go abroad because I believed that would be the best way to help my family have the comfortable life that I had been dreaming of ever since I was a child. Living in a different country away from family was not rainbows and butterflies, it was harder than I thought, but because of my determination, motivation, and prayers, I was able to overcome every struggle that I faced.

While working in a different country, I had different jobs. Because I am adaptable and have a can-do mentality, I am always able to pull it off and render quality service. In Dubai, I worked as a clerk, telesales consultant for an immigration firm, administrative assistant, and monitoring supervisor. I am grateful to have had these opportunities because of the talents I have gained, particularly in communication, interpersonal and intrapersonal skills, customer service, and Microsoft Office skills.

Nieva-Escala-vaBut when the pandemic came, I decided to come home for my safety and because I could no longer afford to live abroad. Our company was struggling just like most of the companies all over the world.

I came across Virtual Assistance jobs that I never knew existed. I was lucky to get hired and work part-time in a fitness company. My responsibilities are mainly collation of data, answering and sending emails, scheduling meetings, updating the reports and making sure that everything is properly written and all data are correct, checking weekly timesheets, uploading reports to the government website, and doing the quarterly billing for all our clients. This job taught me to be more reliable, proactive, resourceful, creative, have the ability to multi-task, and maintain professionalism and integrity. I became proficient with tools and programs that helped my work easier and be more productive in my day-to-day work. Whenever I am not familiar with a program or tool, I encourage myself to attend training or watch tutorial videos, especially it will help the business runs smoothly.
