Elijah Daniell Rodriguez – General Virtual Assistant

elijah-rodriguez-vaHey there! I’m Elijah Daniell Rodriguez, or LJ for short. I’m an aspiring jack-of-all-trades living in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. I share my home with my grandmother and my two fur babies, and hopefully soon, with my girlfriend, with whom I really want to settle down. Past me would have never thought that I’d be the kind of person who looks forward to assisting, but that’s what I do. I strive to be reliable.

I attended college at Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, where I graduated with a  degree in Database Applications and Programming. While I can still handle the basics like data  normalisations and navigating databases with SQL Queries, I chose to focus on graphics design because I fell in love with it. I realised, it was a way for me to express myself and share information without saying a word, in a way that’s pleasing to the eyes, and I was immediately hooked.

My first job was as a General Virtual Assistant at Venticode, a digital marketing agency in Texas specialising in Search Engine Optimisations. I handled a wide variety of tasks like updating spreadsheet calendars for biking events and improving website optimisations. While I enjoyed learning about SEO, my passion for graphic design grew stronger. Then at Villa Esmeralda Hotel and Resort, I got to fulfill my desire to work on graphics as I took on multiple roles as a Graphics Designer, Administrative Assistant, and IT Staff. I created graphics for social media, managed office supplies, and maintained office computers. However, transportation challenges during the holidays affected my wellbeing, leading me to resign and transition to remote work.

elijah-rodriguez-vaCurrently, I’m doing an online internship with UnCapped Potential, a digital marketing agency in the Philippines. Here, I serve as an Administrative Assistant/Online Business Manager. I took on this role to learn more about being an Administrative Assistant and to continue growing professionally while in-between jobs.

Outside of work, I also enjoy a wide array of hobbies. I play basketball, do some boxing, and build Gunpla, along with other plastic figures. These hobbies not only bring me joy but also keep me sharp both personally and professionally. They help develop my quick thinking, sense of camaraderie, and creativity. Additionally, they instill discipline, as physical training and building intricate models requires patience and attention to detail. They also provide a healthy balance to my life, ensuring I stay refreshed and energised for work.

My desire to be a jack-of-all-trades stems from my aspiration to help others. I’ve always admired people who excel in various fields. My grandfather was a brilliant mathematician, engineer, carpenter and boxing coach, and an even better musician. Similarly, my uncle is both a capable cook and a seasoned sailor. Even my favorite sports icon, Manny Pacquiao, excels in multiple fields as a politician and boxing legend. Inspired by them, I aspire to be a man of many talents, too. Currently, I’m proficient in office work, writing, and graphic design, but I DO NOT want to stop there. I know I can learn more, and I will. I’m excited to add more skills under my belt. I aim to learn and grow. Without growth, I’ll be stuck in the same place and won’t be able to help anyone effectively. I must improve, progress, get better, and assist those who need my help to the best of my abilities.

Why? Because I’m inspired, and I know that I’m capable. Because that’s what I do. I strive to be reliable.
