Branepearl Merecido – General Virtual Assistant

“Hi there, how are you? This question is often asked, but first allow me to introduce myself to you. My name is Branepearl Merecido. As difficult as it may pronounce, it should be read as ‘Brain”pearl. If you are a zombie then you are gonna love my name. Did I make you laugh? If so, then I already got your attention.

I am a simple person who is always trying to survive on a daily basis just like you. At first,  I worked as a Field Sales Agent at the Small Town Lottery. I strive to work hard since my role is to go to different locations everyday to make ticket sales. That’s when I realized how tiring life can be and learned that I don’t need to settle for less. I am a graduate of a prestigious University which is Ateneo de Davao University. My excellency during my college years does not give justice to my current work so while I was a Sales Agent I applied for a Call Center at Global Business Solution and luckily I got admitted at the first try. Years may have passed and I am still near to what I want in life. Life can be really tough for fresh graduates and can’t find a definite job that will suit the experiences they encounter at school.

Year 2019, a job was offered to me, it was contractual and it will take me 3 years to finish it. While I was doing a Call Center Agent I have been thinking about it for a month and finally decided to grab that opportunity. An actual office work. The job that I was waiting for.

My experience as Program Administrative Assistant was one of my biggest flexes of all the jobs I had. To give a little background about my previous job, I was helping staff with special projects by setting up schedules and organising resources, developing innovative appealing events programs, building public engagement and attendance levels. Maintaining an organised calendar covering team meetings, trips and appointments. compiling reports, presentations and summaries from data. Took messages from clients and relayed them to relevant staff. Sat in on meetings, hearings and conferences to document activities. This was just the common day to day role I did when I was assigned at the Office of the Vice Mayor and when I was requested to transfer at the Community Participation Action System Office because of my excellency the office needed someone who is talented with more great skills to offer so the half of my 3 years working as a contract employee was deployed on the field to manage political campaigns, host events for the politicians who are running for the government positions. I have experienced a lot during my 3 years working as a Program Administrative Assistant.

When my life is full and satisfied, life will throw you something to learn and improve. I never got the chance to renew my contract and ended up staying at home being jobless. You may see it like giving up but I am just reserving my strength to strive and grind again. Now, I am on the verge of an extensive job hunt for Home-based Job or Work From Home set up. Why am I changing my career path? After 3 years of working at a very mental and physical draining work, with no complaint because they compensate really well. I found myself in a situation where I have to ask myself, “where do I really fit?” After assessing my strengths and weaknesses I came up with a good plan to start with. My ideal role is where my skills aligned with.

I hope I can find a role that will appreciate my skills and abilities. ”
