Fatimah Aurora Hamoy – Engineer, Quality Assurance Specialist

fatimah-hamoy-vaHey there, I am Fatimah Aurora Hamoy, you can call me Farrah. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering from The University of Immaculate Conception. I graduated in the year of 2020, the rise of the pandemic, and working from home was the only chance I had to help my family financially. The work I landed wasn’t in line with the course I finished, but it was the best decision I made. It’s so fulfilling to earn while you’re in the comfort of your home, close to your loved ones and away from any illnesses outside our home.

Until such time that we were asked to go on site, the company was confident we can never catch a flu as dangerous as COVID. I worked 2 years as a Quality Assurance Specialist when we were already on site. During that time, I have developed a solid foundation in providing general administrative support to the client. I may have worked as a Quality Assurance Specialist, but being able to handle one campaign alone, listening to calls was the least of my responsibilities. Gathering and analyzing data to create a deck to be presented to the team leaders, managers and to the client was part of my task. It was important for me to be a proactive and strategic thinker in general to no longer make my supervisor worry more about the campaign I’m handling. I effectively manage tasks, projects, and deadlines to always meet client expectations. My work ethic made my supervisor challenge me with more admin tasks such as managing productivity trackers and creating daily time records for payroll, which goes to show I can prepare spreadsheets and keep online records.

fatima-hamoy-vaIn the 2 years that I worked on site I got sick too often. I easily get the flu when someone in the office catches one.  My skills were honed, but my health was at stake. That’s when I decided to go back to the work from home set-up. I researched how the Virtual Assistant world works and how to become part of the community. I learned the skills needed to be successful in this role and discovered how similar they were with mine. I have good communication skills and interpersonal skills, which I believe are essential for building strong relationships with clients and colleagues. I am reliable and can easily adapt in a collaborative team environment. I am also highly organized, detail-oriented, and data driven.

I am very open to new learning opportunities and challenges if given the chance to take on this role. I know for a fact that the assistance that might be asked from me would depend on the client’s needs and it’s not ‘one description fits all’, and I take that challenge wholeheartedly. With the resilience and can-do attitude, I possess, this can definitely make me successful and effective in this role.
