Hannah Portia Norbe – Lead Generation, Customer Service Specialist
Hello. My name is Hannah Portia Norbe. I am a single mom to three beautiful girls, now young adults. My youngest is already 20. I can’t imagine I’d survive supporting them as their mom and dad, but I did, I wouldn’t be able to do it without help from my mom and aunt. Well, we all need help from time to time. My mom and aunt will gladly babysit for me whenever I’m working.
I graduated from UST with a degree in Business Administration. I started working in the BPO industry, I joined three in 5 years. I started in the customer service role, and moved to SME to QA before I left for my very first lead generation job. I’ve always wished and hoped to work remotely. I live 2-3 hours away from my workplace, which is one reason that I didn’t get to spend much time with my children while they were still little, I have to leave home hours earlier from my shift just to be able to get there on time and when I get home all I can do is sleep and make sure to have 2 hours with them before I go to work again. I only maxed my time with them during the weekends, and because of that, I felt like I missed a lot of their childhood. So, thank God for work-from-home opportunities like these. I get to make up for the time I lost with my girls, and I get to witness them growing into three pretty, young women.
After I left my BPO life, I started working as a Research Analyst for a company that is solely focused on lead generation. I was mentored and trained by the best people that I knew. They don’t fall short of sharing what they know. I learned how to develop a pipeline of qualified leads that sales teams can convert into clients. I was trained on how to identify and qualify leads that would later be converted into advocates, and with constant collaboration with my team and sales and marketing, we were able to develop impactful outbound outreach ideas to help us reach each of our goals. I truly enjoyed working with the team and with the company, but Appen found me and offered me a remote job that is a lot similar to my current role. So with a heavy but happy heart, I resigned from my last on-site job and joined Appen. Appen marked the start of my work-from-home journey. And I have enjoyed every minute of it. If only my department hadn’t dissolved and we were let go, I’d still be working with them.
And then COVID happened and changed everything. I’ve had employments that only lasted for six months because they had to temporarily close their businesses as COVID surged on, but I never stopped, I still need to pay bills and put food on the table. It is challenging, but it is all worth it. I developed skills I never knew I could learn, and it helped my growth as a professional.
To make the story short, I’ve worked in different companies, and different clients, handling roles in lead generation, sales, customer service, and business development–I’ve also worked as a paralegal/case manager once too. It was one heck of a ride, but I’m not complaining. My last job was for an e-commerce company that sells mushroom extracts online and overseas. I was able to put my customer service skills to good use once more.
Once again, I am in search of yet another company and/or opportunity to join and offer my services, knowledge, and experience. Hopefully, for the long haul this time, I aim to gain more experience and skills to help me grow more as a professional, and as a person.
