Hazel Fernandez – Marketing Assistant

My name is Hazel Rich L. Fernandez, you can call me Isel for short as my friends call me that. In our family, I am the eldest among the five siblings, with three brothers and one sister. I have been in a committed relationship for almost ten years now. My partner has a business and I’m the one who assists him when it comes to communicating with his clients and managing orders. I’m also a dog lover; I have four dogs named Ash, Tuti, Pocky, and Loki. We spend our time going out to the park and play as part of our routine. I treat them as part of my family, like they are my children.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing Management and I am an active officer in a non-profit organisation where we focus on reaching out to people who are in need. We donate and help in a charity, especially for the kids and elderly. Our organisation also participated in a program called Cultural annually where we showcase our talent as a group and we won!

Our family used to travel occasionally by visiting the local beaches and going out of the country to learn about different cultures and nationalities. I’m also a sunset lover and I love taking pictures because it brings back nostalgic memories.

I have three months of experience in the BPO industry (freelance) mainly focusing on screening applicants before they get hired, to check if they are fit for work. After working in BPO, I applied for various job vacancies for the role of Marketing Assistant. I landed a job with an Optical Company where I worked for six years. As a Marketing Assistant, my job mainly focuses on social media and events. I collaborate with my colleagues and our managers on projects. We also provide sponsored items to our celebrity endorsers and personally deliver the items to them. I am also assigned to manage one warehouse full of GWP’s (Gift with purchase) items and I was tasked to follow up with our in-store branches in terms of promos and giveaways. We organise an annual medical mission in partnership with one of the biggest television networks in the Philippines by providing free eye exams and reading glasses. I also learned how to read graded reading glasses. Sometimes I participate in a marketing team that focuses on making an appealing store facade for the buying public.

I also do vlogs that mainly focus on my life, my dogs and my travels. It’s fun. I like talking to the camera. I’m horrible at it – but that’s the challenge for me to get better, and I think I’m improving.
