Sherry De Guzman – Social Media Manager

sherry-mae-de-guzman-vaHi there! My name is Sherry and I am your next Social Media Manager and Virtual Assistant.

I have always been into social media since the day it became the talk of the town. In my case, it was way back in 2009. I remember the feeling of seeing a friend request sent by one of my classmates and I immediately thought that “hey she might be interested in knowing me deeply because she wants to connect with me” and obviously, the rest was history. From the exciting feeling of discovering the unknown to realising the opportunities it can bring, I can say that this is “my thing.”

I graduated with a degree in Communication Arts so I was already exposed to how technology changed the way people communicate and engage with their customers. Everything is done digitally. I even interned in an online channel where I managed its Facebook page. I posted trending news with graphics daily. After college, I worked in the BPO industry for almost 5 years and I have dealt with customers from different walks of life and a variety of cultural backgrounds. This experience made me flexible and strengthened my customer service and problem-solving skills.

sherry-mae-de-guzman-vaBut I still felt like something was missing. I realised that I want to go back to my first love which is digitally connecting to other people and engaging with them through creative content. To further improve my social media skills, I took an in-depth Social Media Management / Virtual Assistance training. I have learned many things including: Email Management and Marketing, Calendar Management, Project Management, Data Entry, Branding, Lead Generation, Search Engine Optimisation, Basics of Shopify, Basics of Xero, Social Media Management and Marketing, Content Writing, Graphic Design, Hashtag research and Website Optimisation. I know these may not be a lot compared to those who have been in this industry for quite some time, but what sets me apart from them, is my passion of making an impact digitally for the betterment of one’s life.

I read this saying from one of the Facebook groups I joined, ‘Changing lives one person at a time’. I want to be able to, at least, touch lives through what I can contribute to the business. I also believe that we sometimes tend to over-analyse things and expect too much from ourselves. I am guilty of that, too. But at the end of the day, slow progress is still progress. No matter how small or not visible it may seem. We are always headed to our destined path and for me that is to become the online world’s most valuable Social Media Manager.
