Hershel Bonghanoy – Customer Service Representative

hershel-bonghanoy-vaHi. I am Hershel Ann C. Bonghanoy. You can call me Shel. I’m the eldest among my siblings and a mom of one lovely girl. I graduated with flying colors during my Senior High School years at the University of the Visayas-Main Campus. I took up Accountancy, Business, and Management. When I thought life was easy and things were falling into place, I got pregnant at age 17. It was the most devastating part of my life. I failed everyone around me and especially my most valuable support system- my parents. Before my parents knew about my pregnancy, I had myself checked at the nearest public hospital. After running some tests, the doctor revealed the truth to my parents. On our way home, I cried silently. My father then interrupted me telling me to stop crying and told me that whatever happens to me, he will still accept me as her daughter. That hits me really hard. I regretted what transpired in my life. Do I deserve very considerate, kind, and loving parents? Throughout my pregnancy, my parents treated me well til’ I gained myself back and gave birth to my daughter.

After I gave birth, I started working to finance the needs and wants of my family. I started out working as a customer representative up until now. When COVID-19 struck, I had multiple jobs. I was a call center agent at night for eight hours, an appointment setter for an agency for five hours, and I did live selling and delivered plants for the remaining hours. I’ve done these multiple tasks since we don’t know how long this pandemic will last. I can’t afford to have any food on the table for my family. Having these multiple tasks seems very difficult for everyone around me. I could say that’s the truth. However, it was much easier for me since I love what I’m doing and what matters the most is I can provide for the needs of my parents and my family. I don’t mind bombarding myself with work because I really love giving out and spoiling my family.

hershel-bonghanoy-vaDuring and after COVID-19, I worked from home. It was easier for me to work from home, especially doing these multiple jobs since I don’t have to spend an hour getting ready and traveling to work. Doing these multiple tasks as part of my living to get a source of income taught me about time management, being goal-oriented and resourceful, being flexible, and is committed to working. These factors help me to achieve my goal, especially in customer service. This is where I developed and enhanced my abilities and expertise for the past three years since I’ve got to handle international accounts such as travel, technical collections, and healthcare accounts. I got exemplary recognition and certificates and was a candidate for getting higher incentives. These awards I’ve got only show how committed and reliable I am. I always make sure that I can contribute to the achievement of the team.

I also have a basic knowledge of the Spanish language and am looking forward to studying more about this so I can be bilingual. I always aim to go further and to get more knowledge and skills so I can enhance myself and achieve all my goals in life. I want to try new things and learn new skills and one thing is for sure, I can guarantee that I’m a fast-learner and trainable person.
