Janiemae Bagares – Executive Virtual Assistant

Janiemae-Bagares-vaHello there!

My name is Janiemae Carnelian P. Bagares, but you can just call me Jen. I’m the eldest among my 3 siblings and I got married last June of 2020. I graduated as an Industrial Engineer at Far Eastern University, but I haven’t been an Industrial Engineer ever since. I’ve been in the BPO industry for over 8 years and just switched over to a home-based job after my wedding.

After graduation, some companies from the North and South parts of Luzon wanted to hire me as their IE, however, it is way too far from our house. During that time, I can’t live a day without seeing my mom and my siblings so I declined those offers. I was too immature to think about my future at that time, I only think about the comfort my mom is giving me so I decided to just apply to a company near our house. That’s where I got hired in a BPO company at Accenture Philippines. My mom supports me all the way, she always believes in me that I can make good decisions for myself in the future.

In the same year I got hired, my mom passed away because of cancer, and it made my whole world collapse. I don’t know how to live without her and I don’t know how to manage my growing siblings. I stayed in Accenture for 3 years and live my life like nothing, I don’t know my purpose, I don’t know what I want to do with my life anymore because I am always dependent on my mom. After 3 years, I visited my step-sister in Davao City and the moment I stepped foot in this city, I fell in love instantly in this place and decided to move in for good.

I got hired by another BPO company (IBEX Global) in Davao where I developed my skills. I was a Customer Representative for Billing and Sales for AT&T account for 2 years and then opportunity knocked as a Quality Assurance Analyst for almost 2 years and another opportunity came my way. I’ve become a QA Supervisor for almost 2 years.

Janiemae-Bagares-vaWhen my boyfriend proposed marriage to me, I got this old dream of mine to work while I’m in the comfort of my house. I’m a “Mama’s girl” but I often see her at home because she needs to work hard to give me a good life (she’s a single mom, by the way. My biological father passed away when I was only 6 months old in my mom’s belly), but she sees to it to give me time on her rest Days (she remarried after 9 years).

Growing up like this made me want to stay home when the time comes that I will be married and have children of my own, but at the same time, I don’t want to give up my career. That’s why I switched over to an online job. After my wedding, I applied as an Executive Virtual Assistant for one of the MAPS Coaches in the Real Estate industry. I support my client in her day-to-day activities both personal and business ones.

I’ve learned a lot during my life journey. Most of the people I know judge me for not using my degree, but I don’t care, this journey made me who I am today and I will never regret the things I’ve been through. Today, I can say that I am a very responsible person, very flexible and adaptable to change, I’m optimistic and I don’t entertain negativity in life. I see to it that all things should be done accordingly whether in person or in my career. I accept challenges as my way of learning, learning new things in life is fun and could enhance my skills and capabilities.

Thank you for giving me this opportunity to share my story, hope to work with you soon.
