Justine Bacog – Administrative Assistant, Customer Service

Justine-Bacog-vaMy name is Justine but you can call me Thin for short. I am an Office Administrator undergraduate. The reason why I didn’t pursue my study because we’re having a financial problem at that time. Both my two sisters and I are in college. Their profession was different from mine, which is medical so our parents decided to let them finish it first. It was not just my parent’s decision but also mine, I agreed with them. I only have 1 year left to graduate. I decided to work because I don’t want to be a burden to my family.

My first job was in the BPO industry. First I was hesitant to apply to a call center company because I know I don’t have any experience and I am an undergraduate. But fortunately, most BPO companies are accepting undergraduates. My first job was in a local telco account. Not bad for a beginner, right? It lasted for a year. Unfortunately, the account was dissolved because the client pulled out. They decided to transfer us to a different account which is the international healthcare account. This is the time when my skills were enhanced.

Working in the BPO industry is not easy, but due to my perseverance and eagerness to learn, I survived. Since I now know how BPO works, I decided to go and find a better opportunity. I moved and started as an Email Support in a big bpo company. It lasted for 2 years and my sister asked me to move with her abroad. We moved there and I am not gonna lie, the pay was way better than in the Philippines. But of course, you need to consider the cost of living and other expenses. I worked as an Administrator in Bahrain. After 3 months, I got promoted to Executive Assistant. I know that this is where I belong. I enjoyed Justine-Bacog-vaworking in an industry like this. My roles include organizing our CEO’s personal calendar and emails. I am also part of the Human Resource in the recruitment team. I sort out the profiles of our applicants. I am also part of events management since I am also an administrator. This is where my computer skills were enhanced. I work with the MS office applications such as MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Outlook for email. We also use Zoho CRM for our database.

I love to multi-task, which is why most of my experiences in one company are not just only doing one specific thing. I am always interested in doing new things. I am a person who is flexible and adaptable to change, willing to be trained, and wants to learn a lot of things since we never stop learning when we grow up. I have the initiative to be proactive, organised, and patient. I am responsible for everything that I do.

Unfortunately due to this pandemic, I needed to go back here to the Philippines for good. Maybe this is my call to pursue my career in the Philippines while taking care of my parents.
