Kathleen Agustin – Administrative Assistant, Technical Support

I graduated from La Consolacion College, Manila. I took up a Bachelor of Science in Tourism because my dream is to travel. I love to see different places. That’s all I ever wanted. After graduation, I immediately applied for a flight attendant. Unfortunately, I was not qualified because of my height. I’m 5’4 and they are looking for a 5’5 height. Sadly, I did not pursue my dream because I know I will be rejected again. So I applied for any job that suited my qualifications. My first job was in Cinderella Clothing as a Merchandising Assistant, then after that, I worked as an Operator for Local and International Calls. But the best job for me is when I worked at a Bank. I met so many different people and I really enjoyed talking to them and assisting them.

I decided to be a housewife for almost 9 years and on and off work because I have 2 kids. It’s really hard to be a mother and a housewife. I thought if I will stay at home I will just watch a noontime show and just do nothing. I praise all the mothers who stay home and being a mum and a wife. Because it’s also ok to work at the office because it’s only an 8-hour work. But, staying home it’s a 24/7 duty.

Even though I did not become a Flight Attendant, I did travel to some of the places in the Philippines and abroad with my family. So fate is still kind to me 😉.

My kids are now in their teens, so I decided to work again. Since we have discrimination regarding age, I cannot apply for a job that I like. I ended up applying to a Call Center. The training was so tough and you will feel intimidated because some of your co-trainees are very young and they are very competitive. I survived and I thank the Lord because of that.

Now I’m still working in a call center. I am applying for VA because of what happened to my co-workers, most of them caught the virus. I am hoping to work as a VA for a new experience. I already have a WFH stint last year. I worked as an admin assistant and my boss is from the US. I notice you do have an Office & Administrative and Customer Service position. Hopefully, I can suit that job.
