Kent Aligato – Administrative Assistant

kent-aligato-vaHello! I’m Kent Brylle Roa Aligato, many of my friends called me “KENTOY” and others called “BRYLLE” but I prefer to be called “KENZO” HEHE!.

EDUCATION

I’m just a simple guy with big dreams. I came from a middle class family. My journey began when I enrolled myself in public school. It taught me a lot on how to deal with many challenges and sacrifices. These challenges really molded me to what I am right now. Honestly, the true growing for me is dealing with problems within yourself. As long as that problem can be solved with prayers and determinations. I’ve met friends that I treasure the most until now. They gave me this feeling to wake up and go to school everyday. Somehow, I’m an achiever student where I brought medals from joining several competitions.

When I was in High School, I’ve met many individuals with different characteristics. I can easily adapt to different ways and practices. I tried to break some rules that I didn’t experience yet, but doing it made me realize that it was not worth it. I believe that living life to the fullest will be a great weapon to deal with reality because “Experience is our best teacher”. That’s the time that I’ve learned from my mistakes and that made me a better person.

Moving on to my college years, I enrolled in Xavier University – Ateneo de Cagayan. This University really gave me fears and perseverance as well. I took up Bachelor in Secondary Education Major in Mathematics. It’s not really my cup of tea because somehow I didn’t see myself as an educator. It was challenging every time we do have reflections and reporting. I’m a shy type person when I am in front of many crowds. I have this stage fright that I can’t utter words clearly and fluently. It took me a year to adapt in an environment which I consider my second home. My teachers taught me how to stand up and give the best that I can do while my classmates and friends taught me on how to be brave and to be keen in order to survive my college years.

CAREER

After I graduated, I didn’t look for a job right away, because I really need to focus on my review for my licensure exam. In the review center, there was a teacher who approached me to apply in their school. So, I gathered all my needed documents and sent my application. Gladly, I was hired right away after having my interview. It was the start of my teaching career. I didn’t expect that my first trek as a teacher was like a roller coaster ride that I don’t want to ride on. There were many ups and downs, happiness and sadness, excitement and judgment, and lively to sickly.

kent-aligato-vaThe school that I was in gave me nightmares. I really wanted to quit at that time. I couldn’t handle the demands of my principal where I have to teach students from Grade 1 to Grade 10. It’s not that easy to switch mode from pupils to students. I also not only teach Math subjects but also Values Education, T.L.E, and MAPEH. I was on my peak to change career and not to be a teacher anymore. But on the other side of my ungrateful experience, I opened myself to think more on the possibilities that I will achieve in the future. I finished my one year contract in that school. I gave thanks to the principal because she gave me her trust that I can do most out of my comfort zone.

The second school that I worked for was much bigger and it is now a university. I was a full time Senior High School and a part time college instructor. I enjoyed most of the tasks that was given to me because I was already molded to work under pressure. I got an early promotion to be a Grade level coordinator for two years and another achievement to be the head of the Mathematics Department for another two consecutive years.

In my younger years, I already experienced to be one of the best teachers in the University. I just needed to move down because I didn’t see myself to be financially stable. I need to explore more in order to gain financial stability and to enjoy most of the time that I’m living in. Time is more important than money. What is the use of our money if we don’t enjoy life? That was my journey as a teacher for 6 years.

SPORTS

I really love to play Basketball but I love playing chess more. Chess was really my sport back then. I played a lot with my friends during my free time. I also joined chess tournaments and become a winning coach at the same time. My Senior High School players compete with college players during intramurals and we always won Gold and Silver medals. I really love to play chess until now. That’s really one of my biggest asset in life.

HOBBIES

I love to cook. I really love to hear lovely words from those who taste my dishes. I enjoy cooking varieties of viands. I also love to watch anime movies because it makes me feel young and fresh HEHE!.

Now I’m excited to hear stories from you. I am expressing my sincerest desire to not only hear the stories but write them on my own through my journey in this program.

I am happy and looking forward to work with you.
