Kirk Douglas Diago – Technical Support, Virtual Assistant

Hi there! 😊 I’m Kirk Douglas Diago.

I came from an almost perfect family. My Father was a former Mayor in our town and my Mother is a housewife. We live in a small town here in Negros Oriental. At an early age of life, I witnessed how much people love my father so much – from preschool to elementary.

Things changed when my father got diagnosed with diabetes and the doctors had to remove his left foot just for the bacteria to stop spreading.

In my high school year, my dad was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease. My dad’s sisters almost gave up supporting us because of the fact that my mother doesn’t have work.

My college days were the darkest days of my life. I never took College seriously. I just kept hanging out with my friends and drinking every day. I even dropped every single subject I had. I thought those doings will solve my depression. However, it just made things worst. I was the black sheep of the family at that time. I thought I have no chance to change my life.

After a few weeks of thinking about how I can change my life, I decided to look for a job that would pay enough for our daily needs and contribute to paying out my mum’s debt. I applied to a lot of various BPO companies and I kept on failing the interview knowing that I am an undergrad and without any experience. That was the time I realised how hard life is. I kept on crying and having depression again but, I did not give up. I want to make my parents to be proud of me. I fought my depression and strive more.

Luckily, Qualfon gave me a break.  It was my first job… and the first day of my training was the same day that my dad got rushed to the hospital again. It was heartbreaking knowing that we are in need of financial support at that time and I cannot contribute even a cent. But I did not lose my faith. I took everything seriously and worked as hard as I could, doing my best every day. I totally started from scratch knowing nothing about the work at all. I remember my trainer saying that they didn’t need someone who was very intelligent and had the best communication skills. She said what they needed was someone who is hardworking and willing to learn. Until today, I keep on grinding just to be successful in life even if I was not able to finish my studies.

I always inspire the younger ones that giving up is not an option. No matter how many struggles, or how dark your life was, if you are willing to change and sacrifice you will be successful one day. It may take time but it is worth the effort and sacrifice.

Lastly, with all my experiences in life, I give them value, making them my inspiration to be a better version of myself every day.
