Novie Servidad – Executive Assistant, General Virtual Assistant, Customer Service Representative
My name is Novie, and I am proud to be a mother to two lovely girls as well as an unconditional breadwinner to my family. The quiet province of Camarines Sur brought out those precious survival instincts, responsibility, and value of love given to those closest to my heart. Learning how to balance my own needs against that of my family versus the needs of my extended family has made me someone who will do anything it takes to provide and succeed.
My professional career was developed in the BPO where I spent nearly five years, learning the expertise in customer service. Here I excelled in all accounts related to sales, healthcare, and retention; the three years spent working for Aetna as part of the provider services team have helped me specialise in managing healthcare providers, verifying eligibility and benefits, and handling pre-authorisations. It taught me to remain calm under pressure, to provide the best service possible in the most demanding environments.
Looking to grow and be flexible, I transitioned into freelancing because it would offer me flexibility in being able to explore myself while providing for my family. In this three-year period, I have taken on the role of an Executive Assistant, Admin/Virtual Assistant, turned web developer, graphic designer, and video editor, designing websites, crafting compelling marketing materials, and working through social media campaigns for U.S.-based brands across industries.
The most fulfilling time for me was when I worked with the construction company combining administrative skills with creative marketing. There, I developed promotional content, managed social media platforms, designed ads and flyers using Canva, and ensured that the operation of the company ran smoothly. My video editing experience assisted me in creating effective real-estate ads for investors and other businesses.
Apart from that, I also worked for a social media management agency serving U.S. food brands, such as Kura Sushi and Panda Inn. In the organisation, I learned audience engagement along with content creation to ensure that every campaign reached and hooked the target audience.
Alongside work, I also relish event organisation. It is something that I actively cultured during my college days. Whether coordinating logistics or ensuring everything runs very smoothly, I have always enjoyed bringing ideas to life and making moments memorable.
While my journey has been tough, my role as the backbone for my family has urged me to step forward and envisage a long-term career focused on customer service, helping others, and utilising such skills and experiences gathered along the way.
Every move I take has been out of a need to make ends meet for my daughters and my family on the whole. They inspire me, reminding me daily why to work hard, and dream big.
