Rajesh Gajjar – Sales and Customer Service

Hi – my name is Rajesh but colleagues, friends and family prefer to call me Raj.

I have been brought up in Mumbai, the metropolitan city of India where everyone dreams big… and so do I!

I come from a joint family where we all stay together. I have a beautiful wife and a smart kid (and I will admit I am justifiably biased!). Apart from that I am also blessed to have my parents with me for guidance all the time and a younger brother.

My life has been filled with many different work experiences. From the time I was very small my Dad trained me to drill holes in walls and plywood, so I learned early how to work with basic tools. Indeed, my Dad and I have completed a large number DIY projects for my dad’ s office. I was very lucky because not only did my Dad install a good work ethic in me from a young age, I also got to spend valuable time with him, learning and growing.

After that we got a small newspaper printing machine. I then learned how the newspaper is printed from start to finish. I also gained a new appreciation of how much effort goes into taking a concept of a news story, through the design, development, and manufacture… to finally become that product that is delivered to your doorstep which you read while sipping your morning coffee!

During this time I got in the habit of night shifts. But soon the tech changed and we had to move on from the printing world. So after the business slowed I started looking out for an opportunity in the BPO world. This sector was booming in India during that time and I secured a BPO job in sales in 2004.

Since then I have not looked back! I have been in the industry for 14 years and find it an interesting and mentally stimulating career. I have learned a lot about people and their patterns of behaviour and thought processes. I’ve had the pleasure of interacting with people from around the world. And that is an amazing experience – being exposed to different cultures, values and languages. I have worked in sales, supplied customer service, worked in the ‘back office’ and even have experience in sourcing candidates from social websites for recruitment companies.

On a personal note, I have been through some rough times but with the support of my beautiful family and friends, and the enjoyment I experience in working with people – life is good!

In my free time I like to read novels, and my favourite author is Robert Ludlum. I also enjoy surfing the internet to find out what is going on in the world, going to the movies, and catching up with family and friends.
