Abigail Prospero – Social Media Manager

abigail-prospero-vaHey there! I’m Abigail Prospero, and I’m 26 years old. Back in 2017, I graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education, and I nailed my licensure exam in 2019 on the first go.

After I got my degree, I started my teaching journey at St. Scholastica’s College. There, I was a Faculty Teacher, and I also handled some extracurricular activities for my students.

My role? I had the fantastic task of mentoring and guiding Grade 2 students wherein I taught my main subjects English and MAPEH. I made sure to spice up the lessons and make them super interactive, which not only fired up the students’ enthusiasm but also leveled up my own creativity. I’ve always been a creative soul, so teaching became even more of a passion for me.

I kept the teaching experience rolling when I switched to Tabernacle of Faith Christian Academy and Saint Francis School. This time, I was working with third-grader students, and being their Science Club Facilitator, I made sure our activities were seriously cool and got all those Intermediate-level students super excited about science.

I put in the effort to cater to everyone’s unique learning style by building lessons and a curriculum that would bring out the best in them. It was an exhilarating ride!

But then, the pandemic hit. Those were some tough times and it had me stuck at home. It put a saddening stop to my job as a customer service rep at Telus and Teleperformance.

abigail-prospero-vaI had bills to pay, parents to support, and a strong desire to continue working from my comfy home. So, I started looking for other job options. That’s when I stumbled upon the world of virtual assisting. I thought, “Why not give it a shot?” With my knack for keeping things organized and being adaptable, I managed to land a job as a Social Media Manager.

Going from being a teacher to a virtual assistant was quite a twist, but it turned out to be an exciting ride. I got to do all sorts of tasks that really helped me excel in my skills and abilities.

Being a Social Media Manager was like juggling a bunch of stuff – creating content, setting up posts, and chatting with the online crowd. It was a whole different world, but my teaching background came in handy. See, it had taught me the importance of good communication, and that was a real plus. I had to adapt to the ever-changing digital scene and stay up to date with all the cool trends!

Not only did I get to keep working from my comfy home, but I also stumbled upon a new love for digital marketing. It was tough, no doubt, but the feeling of watching the businesses I worked with grow their online presence was seriously awesome.
