Gene Lemuel Abanto – Fashion Stylist, Administrative Assistant

Hi, I am Gene Abanto, and you can call me Gene. I am 34 years old and from Batangas City, Philippines. I studied for a Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Perpetual Help-Las Pinas. I thought I would become a doctor someday because my degree is in pre-med. After being exposed to fashion when I was in college, a different door opened for me. As a young risk taker at that time, I also studied fashion design and fashion styling at the Fashion Institute of the Philippines, majoring in menswear, so you could say I have a knack for science and fashion. When I first started my career, I had no idea how much I would grow, adapt, and evolve over the years. For my first job, I was an assistant stylist for a local celebrity fashion stylist, and from that, I enjoyed the fashion industry for more than a decade. While doing fashion styling, I also had different job roles that made me who I am now. Working for well-known organisations like Comcast, SiriusXM, Blue Cross, and Blue Shield, I gained extensive knowledge of the skill set that I have right now, from fashion styling down to call centre customer support. As I gained experience, I realised I had a knack for organisation and administration. This led me to a role as an administrative assistant in Doha, Qatar. I explored a lot in life when I was young. I wanted to work overseas for me to travel, and for some reason, I went back to the Philippines and chose to work again locally. And I’m now using all of these experiences to pursue a career as a virtual assistant.

Over the past year, I discovered remote work jobs, which made me realise that I can work while I am in the comfort of my own home and being with my family. Now that I have found a new career where I can achieve a work-life balance, I aim to be successful in this career because I’m not getting any younger, and I want to enjoy my time and moments with my family.

I have been getting ready for this moment for the whole of my career. I am ready to offer my talents, previous experience, as well as dedication to a group that values performance, growth and development, and achievement, and I am thrilled about the changes that lie ahead.
