Jay Beligan – Administrative Assistant, Customer Service

jay-beligan-vaI am Jay R Beligan but please call me Jai. I am an undergraduate in Political Science. Do I want to finish this course? Yes. I want to become a lawyer someday but due to financial situations, I had to work and provide for my family.

I started as a Customer Service Analyst in the BPO Industry. After 2 years of hard work, I have been promoted to a Subject Matter Expert post which handles escalated chats and calls. My door for growth did not close from there and I tried a different post which is to become a Case Mentor/ Risk Prevention Specialist. It has been rocky as there were lots of tasks and deadlines but it didn’t stop me from cascading it to the entire program, doing calibration with the clients, providing recommendations on how to improve the program metrics, and a lot more. After 4 years of being an owl, I decided to step up and try the Training and Development Team department. I got accepted and started handling classes. It was so fulfilling as I am a very talkative person. I was able to deliver what the Training Team is expecting for me to do.

Not until the program that I am working for decided to downsize the number of employees. They gave me options which are to return to my previous post or do a lateral transfer to keep my post. I chose the latter. I transferred to a different program which caters work from home. I enjoyed the first few months of the work from home setup as I handled virtual classes and the trainees were all Americans. It’s been a different journey but a fantastic one. After all the classes, the clients decided to have me as a Quality Evaluator and maintain the work at home setup. That’s one of the major challenges in my life as I experienced anxiety, sleepless nights, and mild depression. It has been so hard for me to just listen to calls and nobody to talk to. jay-beligan-vaI was living alone away from my family. My friends are away. I had to focus on my work but I was not able to do it and always end-up crying and not being able to get the job done.

I had to make a decision to take care of myself for a while and be with my family. I resigned from work and went to the province to spend time with my family.

I decided to stay with my family and look for a job that offers work from home. Until I found the Virtual Assistant Team’s post and tried to submit my application. The Virtual Assistant world is very new to me but I am a quick learner and can work on a minimal supervision. I have so much to offer and I am ready to take another step. I believe that this setup will be beneficial to me as I can work at home and be with my family.
