Overview
Addisalem Laureles – Sales Specialist, Quality Assurance
After having several failed attempts in completing my studies due to financial difficulties, I finally went to pursue my college education under a government scholastic program. I had to tutor high school and elementary students, as well as college math students, worked as a Student Assistant in the PE department, and finally worked as a part time graphics artist to pay my way through college.
Growing up in South Africa for the first 2 decades of my life has harnessed my love for the environment. I worked for the government for six years under the environmental sector and even though I have left the government service, I would still be now and then be tapped by different municipalities as an environmental consultant. When the Governor saw that I had the potentials of becoming a leader, I was enrolled in a specialised post graduate program related to governance leadership where I received the Excellence Award.
As a virtual assistant, I had several experiences with different companies. I once virtually handled a team as a sales manager being the only Filipino employee for the renowned US based Debt Settlement Company. Aside from my primary task to monitor the sales team, I was also tasked to monitor using several back office tools or CRM to make sure that the customers are able to complete the debt settlement program.
I was one of two who were the only ones allowed to run a credit check for the potential customers. I learned how to become proactive, developed initiative, became good in decision making and problem solving, where I had the privilege to dictate what is on my to-do list of activities. When the company had to cut down on human resources, I had to help the marketing department in following up with the different lead providers, authorising payment for our third party marketing associates. I had to help the HR department in interviewing and hiring of new agents, help the IT department in programing the agent call priority, calls recording extraction and was left in charge of the chat support department.
In another office based company I worked for, as a Quality Assurance Supervisor, my work had no boundaries since I was the person who developed the internal intranet monitoring system sales tracking system with different security clearance levels. I used different platforms to be accessed separately by the QA team, sales teams, managers and HR team. I was also one of the people in charge of creating training materials for all the different campaigns and was also one of the sales and product trainers. In the same company when I was promoted laterally as a Customer Service Supervisor, I was asked to head a new team. I handpicked and had to create a CRM database system since predominantly there would be inbound calls. Thanks to YouTube I had successfully launched the CRM in less than a week.
When I am not at work, I spend time doing activities with my family, such as playing chess, solving our almost 100 magic cubes and puzzles collection, watching movies with them, playing with our pet, or doing some physical activities with them.
