Rizelle Joy Fernando – Virtual Assistant, Researcher

Hello, I’m Rizelle Joy Bautista Fernando, but you can call me Riz for short, and I’m from the Philippines.

I am a Virtual Assistant for the past three years, but I had a client whom I worked with for two years. I’m doing the freelancing job in the evening as a part-time job after working my regular full-time job as a secretary in a law firm in Dubai for 11 years. I’ve been juggling my 2 jobs daily for the past three years.

However, this caused struggles and challenges to my health, which later on scared me and forced me to re-evaluate my life. I realized that my stress took its toll and my health situation became worse prompting my resignation from my work for eleven years and leaving my second home (Dubai).

Returning to my beloved home country Philippines for good, I embraced the ultimate change by transitioning to a full-time Virtual Assistant as this role not only offers flexibility which can comfortably work from home but also I can prioritise my well-being and focus on my health.

As I settle into my new routine at our humble home, I find joy resulting in a better life with a healthy mind and body. In the evenings, I share meals and laughter with my family, appreciating the moments once missed while working long hours at the firm and being miles away from them.

As I embraced my new lifestyle, I noticed a remarkable transformation. My health significantly improved, allowing me to engage in some activities I once put off. With more time at home, my bonds with my family deepen; shared meals and quality time create a sense of togetherness that had been missing.

This newly found closeness brings a sense of support that fuels my personal growth. I was also able to reconnect with my passion by helping others and providing administrative support that allows clients to focus on their core tasks.

Now, I became more confident in my skills as a virtual assistant, knowing that I have a strong foundation at home. Ultimately, my journey leads to a healthier, happier life where work and family thrive in harmony and I’m fully ready for the challenges of this new journey and new career will bring.
