Gene Pasay – Administrative Assistant, Customer Service

Hi, I am Gene Alphonse B. Pasay, call me Gene in short. I am a soon-to-be husband and a stepfather to my partner’s lovely daughter. I graduated with an Associate of Fine Arts in Montgomery County and a Bachelor of Studios Arts from the University of Maryland in the U.S.A. Before the pandemic, I worked in the back office and doesn’t even have any clue that there is such a thing as working from home. But working from home has been a blessing I could not take for granted.

I used to work at an Ice Rink as a Manager Aide keeping customers happy, employees driven to work their best, and the place to be environmentally pleasant. Then the Pandemic hits and all went south. I lost my job and had to move to my home country, the Philippines. I thought it was impossible to look for a job but working from home gave me the opportunity.

I have been tech-savvy, a gamer, and a digital artist for as long as I remember, so it wasn’t long enough to meld myself into this new situation. I started working as a work-from-home customer service agent for a company in a nearby province which became my pillar in building my experience.

With skills I already have, I polished them and learn more along the way. Together with my coworkers, we were a great team in helping each other grow. I am a very persistent, reliable, resourceful, and responsible, perfectionist, and have skills perfectly suitable for working as a virtual assistant.

Eventually, my career in customer service had its ending; it’s a contract. I had to look for another and became a seasonal sales agent. I once again flourish with my skills, but this time I have expanded my knowledge further. I learn the importance of work thus giving my best at all times is detrimental. Success can only be achieved when I give my all and am happy while doing it.

Though I started in the office, I find working at home a proper fit for my liking. The setup is perfect for my wife and daughter. I get to love and spend more time with them; and, at the same time be a winner working at home.

My goal is to reach higher than before and maintain a balance between work and personal life. I will never stop improving and will never stop learning, and working from home satisfies the needs to better my life.
