Jenevie Arcenal – CSR and E-Commerce Specialist

jenevie-arcenal-casualHi there, thank you for taking the time to know me a little bit more. My name is Jenevie and this is my story.

I am the only girl among six siblings. When I was a freshmen in High School, my mum got sick. She was in and out in the hospital for three years. All of my parent’s businesses went bankrupt. Since I was the only girl in the family, my dad asked me to stop my studies to take good care of my mum and youngest brother. I was disappointed and had no choice but to stop and help with my dad’s responsibilities in order to provide for the family’s needs.

My disappointment changed into hope and perseverance. I never stopped dreaming and praying that someday I will be able to stand on my own feet and be able to help my family. At the age of 12, I started earning money by managing a small restaurant owned by my parents. I also became a distributor of one of the top direct-selling beauty products in the country. Though I never got the chance to enjoy my teenage life, I have the confidence to say that no matter what storm comes my way, I know I am strong enough to face it.

After three years, my mum recovered from leukemia. I went back to school and went on to become an honour jenevie-arcenal-with-sonstudent. I gained a lot of new friends, became an athlete, got a good record in school and graduated High School with flying colours. Life has been a roller coaster ride.

I was already 18 years old when I graduated from High School; old enough to make decisions on my own. I studied basic computer programming for two years. However, it was not really what my heart wanted. I had a dream but because of our financial limitations, I pushed my dreams aside. But one day, I decided to give it a shot. I went to the university and took the entrance exam for Medical Laboratory Science and luckily, I passed! I actually hate blood. I always faint every time I see blood dripping. But I have this attitude that whatever makes me weak, I will face it rather than run away from it. I want to overcome every weakness I have.

The most unforgettable moments I had as a medical student was when we did our laboratory works. My classmate was about to extract my blood and I suddenly passed out; our professor canceled the class. It was shameful. After that, I always volunteered for blood works and I never stopped until I overcame my fear.

Fast forward a few years. At the age of 24, I got my first job as a telemarketer / appointment setter of a Life Insurance company for six months. I tried my luck in the BPO Industry and got a position on the Pharmacy Help Desk. I handled pharmacy calls for inquiries of medicines that may or may not be covered by the the patient’s health insurance. I’d been part of this account for 18 months when fell pregnant and went home to the province to give birth.

I decided to stop working to take good care of my baby. After one year of being a fulltime mum, I applied for a job again and was luckily hired as a Financial Consultant. I started as an Account Specialist and was later upskilled to transactions specialist. I handled online purchases and sent money locally or internationally. After a few months, I was promoted again to Disputes and Claims. I became one of the top agents in the company and received rewards and certificates. I loved the job as well as the company but I had to prioritise my son’s needs. Due to his health condition, I needed to monitor his vitals and medications round the clock.

I decided to enter the world of being a Virtual Assistant. I studied how it works and learned about the applications that a good Virtual Assistant needs to have. I took some training on how to use Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Sony Vegas for video editing, Social Media Management, Web Design, and Graphic Design, Copywriting, Shopify and Amazon Fba. After leaning these things, I got my first VA job as an appointment setter part-time.

I know I’m just starting my journey as a Virtual Assistant and I am eager to know new things in this field. I will make sure that all tasks assigned to me will have a great outcome.

As a Virtual Assistant, I yearn for a long term relationship with my client.

I hope that you enjoy the short story of my life. I am so excited to hear from you.
