Kim Englis – Customer Service Representative, Research

kim-englis-vaHi! My name is Kim Brian. You can call me Kim or Brian it depends on you.

Before I went to college, we didn’t have money to pay for the enrollment fee, so I planted flowers or did farming for the All Saints Day. When All Saint Day came, I sold the flowers that I planted and receive enough money to pay for my tuition fee.

I’m very proud to say that I’m a Mechanical Engineering graduate. The first Job I had was in UniFeeds as a machine Operator and machine Technician. I left the company because no safety equipment was provided. You need to go to 3rd floor to go to the machine that you need to operate. The stair is so slippery and you don’t have a mask to wear so you will inhale the dust of the feeds.

The next two jobs I had was in Cebu Mitsumi and Knowles Inc. I worked as an Improvement Technician. There were a lot of training that I needed to undergo before I was deployed in the operation. I am the only technician that handled the new machines in a new model product. I observed the machine in the lines then I check what can I improve for the productivity, product loss, damage and operator comfortability. I used paint, AutoCAD, Inventor, Sketchup and Solid Works for my design. I was a Team leader in Cebu Mitsumi and also trained the new technician or OJT’S.

When I started my 3rd job in Knowles Inc., I found my beautiful wife and we had a kid together. After a year, the company offered to give us a severance pay because the department will closing down. I decided to apply in the BPO Industry. I have a lot of struggle applying in the BPO industry because I don’t know the nature of BPO. I asked my 2 sisters how they apply and I also researched on the internet. After gaining some knowledge, I sent my application and was hired by Qualfon Inc. as a Technical Support Representative. I learned in the BPO industry that the most important thing you need is patience. There are customers that will shout at you, would speak profanity and some are racist, but you need to control yourself, show them that it is okay and that you understand them. My family was getting bigger so I needed to look for a new job with better compensation.

kim-englis-vaI applied in Concentrix Inc. as CSR in a financial account. I found that financial account is not an easy task. You need to be more patient because it is all about money. A lot of customers are shouting at you and they put the blame on you, why they did not receive their pay, why their pay is lacking even though that scenario is not controlled by you. You need to make sure that you apologize every time there is any problem on the customer’s side.

Then I was transferred to the new account which is CyberSource. Our tasks include accepting or rejecting the orders placed by the customer online for a certain merchant like LV. It is not an easy task because before you make a decision, you need to check all your resources to make sure that the one who placed the order is not a fraud. You need to investigate the transaction history if no history goes to google, FB, Instagram, TruePeopleSearch or other website just to make sure that the right person places the order online. I also worked in Resilient BPO as an appointment setter for a Financial Advisor company. In cold calling, you need to be more engaging because you need to catch the attention of the person that you are calling so that you can book them as your appointment for the day.

The most important thing you need to have when finding a job is your willingness to learn, patience and you need to have a goal that you need to achieve.

I’m looking forward to working with you soon for the growth of the company. Feel free to check my resume. Thank you and keep safe always.
