Laurice Anne Alojado – General Virtual Assistant

laurice-alojado-vaHi, My name is Laurice Anne Alojado but you can call me Laurice. I am a mom of two beautiful kids. I would say that I am a cool and jolly mom. Those are my ways to get easily close and connected with my kids.

I found myself in the challenging position of being a separated mom with two young children to raise alone. It was not the life I had planned, but I knew I had to be strong for my family.

At first, I struggled to adjust to the new reality of being a single parent. I was overwhelmed with the responsibilities of caring for my children, managing the household, and working a full-time job. But with time, I learned to prioritise my responsibilities and find a balance that worked for me. Despite the difficulties, I never gave up. I made sure my children had everything they needed, from nutritious meals to a safe and comfortable home. I also made time for fun activities with my kids.

I was working as a sales associate then promoted to senior cashier in Dubai and Abu Dhabi for nine years. I decided to stay in the Philippines for good and started working as a customer service representative in one of the well-known telecommunication companies here in the Philippines that handled devices and provided services such as phone calls, text messages, and the internet. Besides working in the call center industry for 6 years.

My responsibility is to assist customers and provide resolutions to all the issues they encounter about the product. I usually offer the extra mile to earn my customer’s trust and satisfaction. Apart from answering questions and resolving issues, my duties may include providing information about a company’s special offerings and upselling related products and services, if appropriate, when engaging with customers.

laurice-alojado-vaThough I worked in customer service for a long time, I didn’t limit myself to studying and improving my skills. I practice myself to learn different things to improve my empathising, use positive language, be more active in listening, and my technical skills. I was recommended by my supervisor to transition into a different line of business in which I may be able to use my skills. I was promoted as well to a different position and had an opportunity to teach and support. In my previous job, I really enjoyed my professional relationship with my co-workers. They’re courteous, polite, and always ready to lend a hand when needed.

However, I’ve realised being at the company long-term will hinder my career because my duties don’t provide much room for growth or the development of new skills. But I’m grateful for the time I spent with them, especially the insight it gave me into which direction I want to take my career in, but I’m looking forward to moving on into a role where I’ll have room to progress and sharpen my skills. I wanted to do something in my career that is challenging, interesting and makes a difference in people’s lives daily. Dealing with clients and helping them through what is often a difficult time for them is extremely satisfying for me. So I decided to go with a virtual assistant to grow my career. helping clients to grow their businesses and doing something challenging.
